Four bones, joined end to end, form a macabre border engraved onto black mirror glass and set in a bold black frame.
The bones meet at each corner with their rounded joints overlapping, framing the centre of the mirror like a reliquary or a memento mori. Every ridge and groove along the bones is picked out in fine detail. The open centre leaves plenty of clear mirror, so it’s as practical as it is striking.
Most engraved mirrors use traditional silver glass. This one is made on black mirror glass, which gives a darker, smoky reflection and a far more gothic look. The engraving glows softly against the dark glass, so whatever the mirror reflects appears framed in bone.
The frame can hang on the wall or stand on its built-in kickstand, so it suits a gallery wall, mantel, shelf, desk or dressing table. It’s a striking gift for lovers of oddities, anatomy art, memento mori and gothic home décor.
Precision-engraved bone border design
